Your Legacy. Our Future. is a unique 4-day experience in Washington, DC designed for young adults ages 18–24 who are descendants of Korean War veterans who served between 1950–1955. Participants will explore the lasting legacy of the Korean War through lectures, visits to memorials and museums, engaging discussions, and cultural exchange opportunities with South Korean university students, US Teachers, and South Korean Teachers. 

This immersive experience will honor the sacrifices of veterans while building new international friendships and helping a new generation connect with their family history and shared global heritage.

Program Includes:

  • 4 nights hotel accommodations in Washington, DC
  • Meals provided throughout the program
  • Meetings and cultural exchange with South Korean university students
  • Visits to Korean War Memorials, museums, and historic sites
  • Opportunities to honor and share your veteran’s story
  • Networking with other descendants of Korean War veterans

Eligibility:

Age 18–24 and a descendant of a Korean War veterans who served between 1950–1955.

Registration Fee:

A non-refundable registration fee of $30 is required to secure your spot.  At the conclusion of the event, you will receive the registration fee back

 General Information:

  • Registrations will be accepted until the workshop is full.  Apply NOW!
  • Dress is business casual summer for the entire event (no T-shirts, please).

Hotel Accommodations:

Embassy Suites Alexandria, 1900 Diagonal Rd, Alexandria, VA 22314

  • Each room will be double occupancy and will have two queen beds. Same gender roommates will be assigned before the event.
  • The hotel sits directly across the street from the King Street Metro Station and Alexandria Union Station, providing immediate access to Amtrak and the DC Metro.
  • If you are driving, you are responsible for hotel parking at $20 per night. These expenses can be submitted as part of the travel reimbursement. 
  • When checking into the hotel, you must provide a credit card for incidental charges.
  • The hotel is a 5-10 minute taxi ride from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.  You are responsible for your own transport to and from the hotel.

 Travel Reimbursement:

  • Transportation expenses such as mileage, hotel parking, train, flights can be reimbursed up to $200.  You must save receipts for reimbursement and payments will be made after the conference.

Expectations:

  • Dress for all events is summer business casual for all workshops.
  • Participants are required to attend all meals and events.
